Additional Details
OnCell is a relatively new phone app that has already been adopted by a number of National Forests and Parks to positive reviews. We are seeking a candidate who will build upon initial development of the Los Padres app while coordinating with our visitor information staff and OnCell technical support staff. This will be an excellent experience for a young scholar interested in learning more about the U.S. Forest Service, resource management, forest recreation, sustainable operations and public service delivery.
Environmental Impact
The Los Padres National Forest is one of the most heavily trafficked forests in the United States, with over 1.8 million visitors each year. The Los Padres OnCell app seeks to give visitors an accessible, easy-to-use tool that will help them get even more out of the forest, making maps, campsite reservations, and forest updates available right on your phone. This internship represents an opportunity to work on a unique project that will have a lasting impact on future Los Padres visitors.
